Chennai MCEM adventure

Little did I expect my trip for the MCEM examination in Chennai would turn out to be so delightful. During the examination, we had a chance to interact with the local emergency medicine doctors and go on a local tour of Chennai with them.

Once again, though we all come from different countries and backgrounds, there is a common ground. Our views, experiences and perception merge on this platform called emergency medicine. Its great! Medicine knows no language, culture or boundaries!

Staying at a place near the exam centre is crucial as we had discovered. Google map was our friend in helping us choose the hotel location. Even though it may seem really near, the traffic in Chennai was absolutely crazy. Furthermore, if you decide to get an auto (India version of a 'tuk tuk') on the morning of the examinations, that is NOT a good idea. About 5 auto drivers turned us down before we eventually got one to the exam centre. One of our friends nearly ended up running late for the examination as their auto driver decided halfway along the journey that he didn't want to continue to the examination centre which was Apollo Hospital

Hence for those sitting for MCEM in Chennai, do use google map to help decide you hotel. Then book a taxi with the hotel itself. If possible, arrive the day before and use the auto to estimate the distance and time it takes to get to the centre.
